I have been a businessman for 36 years. At age 20 I (and two partners) purchased a radio station in southern Utah. We sold it seven years later and I entered the insurance business. I was an agent for five years, spent two years as a District Manager assistant, and have been a District Manager/Recruiter here in the Salt Lake County area for nearly 23 years. That’s 30 years in insurance.
When I took over this District in 1987, there were 12 agents and approximately 12,000 policies-in-force. Today, we have 37 agents and 56,000 policies in force. Our District serves over 23,000 households.
I have been privileged to recruit and train many agents who have created very successful agencies. In the last three years, three of the agents I recruited and trained have moved on to become District Managers here in Utah. Now, they are helping people create successful agencies. I am pleased to see our agents and their families enjoying the fruits of success.
As a Distrct Manager, I have been fortunate to achieve some of Farmers' highest honors, including Toppers Club 11 times, Championship 4 times, and President's Council 5 times.  On a personal note, I grew up in southern Utah and have lived in the Salt Lake area for 26 years. I have been married for 36 years and have four children. Three are married, and one just graduated from the the University of Utah. We have three grandsons, all 3 years old, and four granddaughters, all two years old, or younger. Two of the little girls were born this summer, and we have one more 'on the way' later this year.
I am a baseball fan and have had season tickets to the Salt Lake Buzz/Stingers/Bees for many years. I try to attend a few major league spring training games, and a couple of regular season games each year. I have enjoyed many games, the most memorable being at Chicago's Wrigley Field, and in New York for one of the final games at 'old' Yankee Stadium. I also like to ride my Harley, read biographies, watch football, and listen to a wide variety of music (Blues and Classic Rock are favorites).
My family has enjoyed the benefits of success the insurance business has to offer. This business has provided us with a comfortable lifestyle and great opportunities. We are blessed.
